• Roby did not remain without a tower for long, when only a year after being built, a bell was donated by Huyton Parish Church.
  • A small tower on the north side of the church was built to accommodate this bell. You can read more about the bell here.
  • The oak panels in the Pulpit and Chancel were donated at the same time by the Earl of Derby, who had collected them from Flanders and Normandy whilst searching for panels to decorate his Knowsley boathouse. The Roby Church Book records the receipt of the panels, however they lay in a shed in the vicarage garden for a number of years, until Canon Sylvester (the next vicar after Rev. Banner) arranged for them to be installed. More information about the panels around St Bart’s can be found here.
